Nathalie Kowalski-Hicks is the inspiration behind Sunflower
Mosaics. A trained artist with a Degree in Three Dimensional Design,
Nathalie established the business a few years ago after developing
a deep and lasting passion for working in the medium of mosaics.
The 40-year old mother of two has been fast gaining a reputation
for her creativity. Her work on a giant mosaic at Longleat, the
stately home of Lord Bath, has been described as a ‘masterpiece’
(for further info: please click on the commissions button).

Whatever the overall size or cost of the project,
each tile in each mosaic is individually laid by hand. The process
is lovingly and professionally undertaken by enthusiasts who are
also masters of their craft. The effects are breathtaking.
Nathalie and her team use a wide range of materials - from vitreous
glass, ceramics, pebbles and beads to gold leaf, semi-precious
stones and marble. A wide range of options are available to suit
all preferences and tastes.
|
For example, ceramic tiles may be glazed or unglazed
and come in earthy terracotta, ochre, olive green and cream. Vitreous
glass tiles, suitable for indoor and outdoor use, come in a rainbow
of colours which include bronze and copper veined effects.
Nathalie has been influenced by interior design and architecture,
garden designs, literature and the environment. Many of the most
popular designs used by Sunflower Mosaics have drawn their inspiration
from both ancient and modern themes. |
